Rachel Shearer

Artist and researcher

Rachel Shearer is an artist based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Rachel’s work and research investigates sound as a medium across a range of practices and contexts: installation art, experimental music composition/production/performance, writing, as well as collaborating as a sound designer/composer for moving image events and live performance. Rachel’s research explores sound practices related to close listening to the earth through Maori and Western technologies and philosophies. Rachel is affiliated with Rongowhakaata, Te Aitanga ā Māhaki iwi (extended kinship groups) and Pākehā (NZ European).
