Maria Sol Mena Rubio

Sociologist

Sociologist, civil servant at the Madrid City Council, has been working  since 1987 in the planning of public policies in different fields such as public health, environmental education, active mobility (walking and cycling), urban planning oriented to climate change adaptation, models of governance of urban public spaces, historical heritage and landscape and cultural management.

Since 2019, she has been Technical Advisor at the Energy and Climate Change department of the Area of Urbanism, Environment and Mobility. Especially, she has focused on the design of strategies and projects of adaptation to climate change in public facilities and spaces, and on the design and implementation of European and Next Generation projects. Moverover, she has been training other employees and collaborating with Climate-Kic and the Polytechnic University of Madrid in projects that promote decarbonisation of the city and help to achieve the 2050 objectives of climate neutrality. She is particularly interested in the processes of modernisation of public institutions and transforming environmental public policies.
