Irma Álvarez-Laviada

Artist

Was born in Gijón in 1978. Lives and works in Marseille.

Bachelor of Fine Arts by the Universidad de Vigo in 2001. She currently writes the dissertation El vacío como despliegue autorreflexivo de la propia obra. During the 2013, Álvarez-Laviada individually exposed his project ” Desaparecer es una idea ” in the Agustina Ferreyra gallery of Puerto Rico and “Improvisation” in the Round the Corner of Lisbon. It also highlight: “Procesos”, ATM Contemporary, 2011, Gijón; “Campos de color”, CEART, 2009, Madrid; and “Memoria del vacío”, Sala Borrón, 2007, Oviedo.

This last year her work has been featured in the exhibition “Dreaming is a form of planning” of the Agustina Ferreyra gallery, Puerto Rico; in the exhibition “How to dream otherwise” held at the Seoul Art Space, Seoul; has been part of the art show EXPLUM and has been finalist of the international prize COMBAT PRIZE. She participates in different Contemporary Art fairs as ARCO, Photo Miami, Madrid photo or CIRCA. She has been part of the ” Muestra de arte INJUVE “, “Interzonas.II Encuentros Europeos con el arte ” and for several years participates in the” Muestra UNIÓN FENOSA”.

She has been finalist of the ” XXIX Premio Fundación Bancaixa ” of the ” I Premio de Arte Auditorio de Galicia ” or the ” Certamen nacional de arte gráfico para jóvenes creadores “, among others. She has received grants from Obra social y cultural de Cajastur for artists, the ones from the Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid and the Colegio de España in Paris, where she also was awarded a grant from the Cité des arts. In 2012 she was awarded the Real Academia de España en Roma grant.
